Stokes Birdfeeder Book : The Complete Guide to Attracting, Identifying, and Understanding Your Feeder Birds

May 29, 2008

Customer Review: Bird Book
Good book, has a lot of useful information and tips on how to attact birds to your home feeders. Could be a bit more expansive, but pictures are great. All-in-all a helpful book. Won’t know until spring whether the tips to attract the birds works or not.
Customer Review: Good Book, Slightly Misleading Title
This book is subtitled “The complete guide to attracting, identifying, and understanding your feeder birds.” While it is good at the “indentifying” and “understanding” parts, it leaves something to be desired in the “attracting” department. I had hoped for a book that would tell me what has a good chance of drawing specific birds, but except for hummingbirds, it really doesn’t go into detail about the topic. It’s still a good book as far as it goes; I simply don’t think that it’s much of a guide to attracting the specific birds you have reason to believe are in your area, but goes with a considerably more general approach. Customer Review: book on birds of Colorado
Recipient seems quite pleased with the book.
It arrived in a timely fashion and was in excellent condition.
Customer Review: Decent, but could be better.
The actual pictures of the birds are vivid and clear, which makes it nice to look at and easy to identify the birds. However, since there is only one picture of the bird you had better hope that whatever you are trying to identify looks exactly as it does in the book. That being said, the book is lacking important juvenile, breeding and male/female distinctions in feather color and markings which could make it pretty difficult to identify specific types of birds. Customer Review: NO SQUIRRELS
No Squirrels, No Kidding.
Great Bird feeder. It is big, and the squirrels hate it. They don’t even bother after a while. Quality is superb. I have tried everything, and this thing works. I got it at Sears for 37 bucks (on line). Get two before they realize the priced it wrong.

Customer Review: Backyard Birding
excellent for the backyard birder. It offers really useful ideas for attracting birds and keeping them coming to your yard.
Customer Review: Great guide
I was sent this then-new book seven or eight years ago to review for my newspaper column on birds, and found it to be an excellent guide, not only on how to build boxes for all sorts of cavity-nesting birds, but also how to deal with problems like predators and pests. I built one of the boxes; it went together well and has served quite a few feathered families over the past five or six years. Buy from here…
